Well ny trip was going super well. I'd done a couple of photoshoots and windsurfed everyday and then it all went wrong.
I crashed a push loop at Sprecklesville last friday - my front foot got stuck in the footstrap and the board twisted on impact with the water - and it felt so much like my foot was torn clean off that I was aprehensive about looking at whether it was or not! Luckily it was still on and I managed to get back to the beach where I was helped by Neil Courtney from Naish UK. I got home and although my foot was swollen I thought that it woulld get better, but by morning it was elephant sized and looking pretty bad.
Cutting a long story short Michi Schweiger & Julia Deutcsh kindly took me to A&E where I found out luckily that my ankle wasn't broken and that I had very badly sprained it and torn some ligaments. Even worse - the cuts I had in my feet from the reef were infected and there was a real worry that I had "staff". So I was pumped intravenously with antibiotics and had my wounds scrubbed with a scrubbing brush before being dressed and this goes down as a top ten most painful experience!
Now I am on crutches, hoping to be able to walk in ten days or so and then maybe windsurfing again before the end of my trip in a month. We'll see :-(
Still, it's nice weather here and windy every day!
